‘ELECTROMAGNETIC RESONANCE THEORY’ is now a most favorite model for a section of prominent homeopaths, who promote homeopathy as part of their CAM and ENERGY MEDICINE practices.
Most important point to be noted is, the ‘EM RESONANCE MODEL’ do not agree with the current paradigms of mainstream modern science. It is a pseudo-scientific theory promoted by CAM practitioners of various colors, for providing a scientific flavor to their ‘energy medicine’ practices. Using this ‘resonance’ theory, they try to justify all sorts of ‘homeopathic’ occult practices such as hair transmission, photo transmission, mp3 transmission, paper remedies, water memory remedies, dream proving, meditation proving, trituration proving etc etc. Proponents of dowsing, reflexology, faith healing and such other nonsense things also make their practices appear scientific, by using this ‘resonance’ theory.
In my opinion, this pseudo-scientific ‘theory’ has no any role in the scientific understanding and explanation of homeopathy.
One of the most popular versions of this model running around could be abstracted as follows:
“Living cells and tissues are capable of generating EM waves in their physiological conditions. When a cell deviates from its physiological state, in addition to normal EM emissions, it starts to produce EM waves with altered characteristics. According to our model, the main cause of the therapeutic effects of homeopathic remedies is the occurrence of resonance between the non-physiological EM waves of the patient and extremely low-frequency EM waves produced by nanostructures present in the homeopathic remedy. Resonance occurs if the frequency and amplitude characteristics of the patient’s non-physiological EM waves and those produced by nano-structures of the applied homeopathic remedy are similar. Once resonance occurs, stimulation of the patient’s sensory neurons, which are sensitized due to inflammation of any origin, leads to triggering of different regulatory mechanisms, including the activation of descending antinociceptive and/or cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathways, which leads to the restoration of homeostasis.”
We should remember, there is already a well known molecular mechanism for bio-molecular inhibitions and pathological changes we call ‘disease’. There is also a well known molecular level mechanism involved in the process of removal of pathological inhibitions which we call cure. Concept of ‘RESONANCE OF ENERGY FIELDS’ does not fit to this well-accepted scientific paradigms. When we talk about homeopathy in terms of ‘resonance’ model, we are actually putting homeopathy under the risk of further alienating from mainstream science.
We should not fail to realize the difference between the ‘material’ ENERGY the science talks about, and the “conceptual”, non-material” or “dynamic” energy the pseudoscience talks about.
Kindly go through some articles about hair transmission, ‘paper remedies’ etc etc. All of them talks a lot about ‘resonance’ of energy fields of DRUGS as well as living BODY.
Any material object, when viewed using spectroscopy will show an EMR spectrum specific to it- whether it be atom, molecule, nanoparticle, organism, nonliving object or anything else. That is due to the reflection or refraction of light rays used for this observation, which will be specific to the atomic and molecular level structure of the particular object. Actually, we can observe and record the EM signals of any object in this universe. Potentized drugs also contain water and ethyl alcolhol molecules arranged in specific conformations due to ‘molecular imprinting’, and it will have its specific EM signals. EM signals could be observed by spectroscopic studies of not only potentized drugs, but any object.
It is an ‘ultra-scientific’ over exaggeration to say that we can repair molecules, atoms, organs and living bodies using ‘resonance of energy fields’. If it is possible, why should we confine it to bio-molecular repair? Can we repair any ‘material’ body by this way? Can we repair a vehicle or space craftT using this resonance of ‘energy fields’?
If drugs can repair our bodies through ‘energy resonance’, why should we limit it to homeopathic drugs? All drugs- including allopathic- will have EM signals under spectroscopy. Can we use them also to cure diseases by ‘resonance’? If drugs act by ‘energy resonance’, why should we take drugs internally? They should act ‘dynamically’ from a distance!!
Some people talk about “changing of biological function of molecules” by EMR resonance, where as some others talk about “changing of whole body” by resonance of ‘bio-energy of organism with EM signals of drugs. Some others talk about changing of ‘vital force’ itself! While some people theorize about EM signals of NUX VOMICA molecules, certain others talk about EM signals of NUX VOMICA ‘tree’!
‘Resonance theory’ provides enough breeding grounds for all sorts of unscientific, ultra-scientific and fringe science theories about all forms of woodoo and occult practices done under the label of CAM.
As already pointed out, if drugs act by ‘resonance of energy fields’, it will act from a distance! How much distance will be decided by the strength of particular EM signals a drug produce. Implications of such an ‘ultra-scientific’ extension is obviously dangerous to scientific understanding and practice of homeopathy.
Actually, it is not the ‘RESONANCE OF ENERGY FIELDS’, but MATERIAL interactions between individual ‘drug molecules’ and ‘biological molecules’that produce medicinal cure.
Regarding potentized drugs, it is the material interaction between individual MOLECULAR IMPRINTS and PATHOGENIC MOLECULES that lead to removal of molecular inhibitions and effect a CURE.
